Who are the best attacking midfielders in the Premier League right now in 2025? Combining defensive output, goal-scoring chance creation, one-on-one ability, work rate, experience, current value, and versatility in the modern game with analytics provided by FBRef.com, we ranked the top 10.
10. Bernardo Silva, Manchester City
Although Bernardo Silva is in the decline phase of his career, the versatile Manchester City attacking midfielder is still one of the best in the Premier League in his position by virtue of his ability to continue to get into scraps and create chances.
Silva is now 30 but still as hard-working as they come. The Portuguese international is in the 90th percentile or greater in assists and progressive carries while being in the 87th percentile among all midfielders in shot-creating actions and succsessful take-ons.
If Rodri were healthy and the overall base of the Manchester City squad stronger, Silva’s statistics would do a better job of reflecting what he is offering the Citizens.
9. Alejandro Garnacho, Manchester United
Alejandro Garnacho is able to play as a traditional 10 or a hybrid winger and attacking midfielder, and while he remains in the shadow of Bruno Fernandes, the young talent is one of the Red Devils’ most exciting players and, alongside Amad Diallo, the biggest threat to make things happen for United with the ball at his feet.
8. Dominik Szoboszlai, Liverpool
A former Bundesliga superstar with RB Leipzig, Dominik Szoboszlai has had to become a more rugged attacking midfielder in the Premier League, and he’s put on more muscle to prove it.
The Hungarian international is still unmistakably a great playmaker and a threat to score from virtually any part of the field with that golden left foot of his. Szoboszlai is more of a team player and is a key cog in the wheel of a Liverpool side that is undoubtedly Europe’s best right now in the 2024/25 campaign.
7. Alex Iwobi, Fulham
Once a disappointment for Arsenal and then a diamond in the rough for Everton, Alex Iwobi is playing the best football of his career for Fulham in a jack-of-all-trades role as an attacking midfielder who mostly splits wide in a team that already has a very good traditional 10 in the young Emile Smith-Rowe, who is a more recent Arsenal product.
Iwobi works as hard as anyone in his role in the Premier League and is in the 92nd percentile in progressive passes and the 78th percentile in progressive carries among all attacking midfielders and wingers.
6. Justin Kluivert, Bournemouth
The son of legendary striker Patrick Kluivert, Justin is building a legacy all to his own in the Premier League and is thriving in more of an attacking midfield role in his second season with Bournemouth, coming into his own away from the wing.
Kluivert can affect the game more and offer a greater goal threat from central positions. The 25-year-old already has a whopping 11 goals and 4 assists this season, even averaging a career-best 3.64 shot-creating actions per 90.
He’s bounced around a lot in his young career, but he’s finally found a home for himself in English football now.
5. Eberechi Eze, Crystal Palace
Eberechi Eze took a little bit of time to get back going after superstar right winger Michael Olise made his summer move to Bayern Munich, but the Englishman is back to resuming his post as one of the five best attacking midfielders in the Premier League.
Only just entering the prime of his career at 26, Eze has 5 assists in the 2024/25 Premier League campaign with an average of 4.75 shot-creating actions per 90 after hitting 4.87 last season.
The goals may be down without Olise on a subpar Palace side, but after scoring 21 goals in his previous two Premier League seasons combined, there is little doubting Eze’s chops in front of goal.
4. Dejan Kulusevski, Tottenham
The 24-year-old Dejan Kulusevski came into the season as one of the best right wingers in the Premier League, and he’s now become one of the best midfielders in the English top flight as either a 10 or an 8.
An effervescent individual with some of the best carrying capabilities in all of European football, Kulu has 10 goal contributions on the season with an average of 2.6 combined dribbles completed and fouls drawn per game as well as 2.4 key passes per match.
3. Bruno Fernandes, Manchester United
Bruno Fernandes is an easy player for people to hate, but anyone who is willing to look past the arguments with referees and the fact that he’s the face of Manchester United – if they like a rival club – will have to admit that Bruno’s track record of making an impact is simply unmatched at the position in the Premier League.
The Portuguese international is on pace to notch 15 goal contributions for the sixth straight season in a Manchester United shirt, and he once reached 30 at the age of 25 when Man United finished second in the league and were last competent.
Manchester United have been very poor in 2024/25, but Fernandes is the one guy consistently delivering end product to keep the Red Devils afloat. He is averaging more than 5 shot-creating actions per 90 minutes for the third straight season.
2. Matheus Cunha, Wolverhampton
A legitimate Premier League Player of the Season candidate, Matheus Cunha has more than fulfilled the potential he flashed in the Bundesliga when he was rouletting into chips.
Cunha is still scoring bangers to this day and carrying Wolves to relevancy, even defending at an elite level among attacking midfielders to prove that he’s more than just a guy for the highlight reels.
The Brazilian international is at 11 goals and 4 assists this season, and he’s even above the 80th percentile among his positional peers in both interceptions and clearances, which is just mind-boggling for a guy who is in the 94th in goals.
1. Cole Palmer, Chelsea
Cole Palmer is the standard at the attacking midfield positions in the Premier League and a menace who can play wide, particularly on the right as a left-footer, but is most dangerous when he’s playmaking for the striker – and scoring goals of his own.
One of the most consistent players in all of European football, Palmer brought Chelsea back to European competition in his 2023/24 breakout campaign, and now he’s leading the Blues’ likely charge back to the Champions League with 14 more goals and 6 assists to add to the jaw-dropping 22 and 11 he posted in 2023/24 as the best Chelsea player since Eden Hazard moved to Real Madrid in 2019.
