Manchester United opened up their checkbook and spent 60 million euros to sign the most coveted young center back in world football this summer in former Lille star Leny Yoro.
Wanted by Real Madrid and chief scout Juni Calafat, who views Yoro as a generational talent, Yoro represents a new era of spending and ambition at Manchester United under the INEOS banner.
Unfortunately, Man United have yet to watch the 18-year-old talent go to work at Old Trafford in the Premier League or Champions League, because he suffered an ankle injury on July 29 before the season even started and has been out since.
According to a report from the Muppetiers, Manchester United doesn’t want to make the mistake of rushing players back too soon again, so Leny Yoro isn’t expected to return until around or after the October international fixtures.
Those fixtures will take place from around Oct. 7 to Oct. 15, so that means it may be another month until Yoro makes his return to Man United, but with former Ajax stars Lisandro Martinez and Matthijs de Ligt, there’s also no rush for Erik ten Hag to get the Frenchman back in.
Manchester United can continue to ease Yoro, who was one of the best center backs in Ligue 1 last season as a teenager and could potentially push De Ligt for starts. So later rather than sooner may be the plan for Yoro.
