Bayern Munich have one eye glued to the date April 30, because that is when they will play host to Real Madrid in the first leg of the Champions League semifinals.
Die Roten have already decided to hold out star right winger Leroy Sane from Saturday’s Bundesliga matchup against Eintracht Frankfurt so that they can ensure the German international will be ready for Tuesday’s Champions League tilt with Real Madrid.
According to a report from BILD, Bayern Munich will also keep Serge Gnabry out of Saturday’s game. The 28-year-old has missed most of April with a torn muscle, which is his third significant injury of the 2023/24 season. Gnabry missed most of the winter with an injury and fractured his forearm in September.
In total, the left winger has only started four matches and appeared in five more during the 2023/24 Bundesliga season. Bayern Munich are reportedly hoping to recover Gnabry enough to have him available off the bench against Real Madrid.
Meanwhile, there is more optimism regarding superstar attacking midfielder Jamal Musiala, who has been a much bigger factor in Bayern’s 2023/24 season.
Musiala will be able to play against Eintracht Frankfurt this weekend after missing last weekend’s 5-1 romping of Union Berlin with a knee injury.
Whereas Sane and Gnabry have not practiced, Musiala has been able to. There should be no worries regarding the 10-goal man’s ability to face Real Madrid next week.
