The 2026/27 Premier League season is just weeks away, and here are the 20 players I am putting on my wish list and trying to own in FPL leagues to start the fresh campaign
Goalkeepers
Antonin Kinsky, Tottenham
James Trafford, Leeds
David Raya, Arsenal
Tottenham are going to have a lot of players on this list, as their stars are undervalued with the improvements that are being made. Antonin Kinsky was arguably the best goalkeeper in the Premier League when he became Spurs starter last season, so he joins the literal best keeper in the league, David Raya of Arsenal, as a player I want to own in FPL this season. And James Trafford is on there, too, as the next big goalkeeper in the Premier League after spreading his wings with a big move to Leeds United.
Defenders
Marc Guehi, Manchester City
Adrian Truffert, Bournemouth
Pedro Porro, Tottenham
Jan Paul van Hecke, Tottenham
Micky van de Ven, Tottenham
Tottenham Hotspur shed the dead weight in Cristian Romero, and they are going to rack up a lot of points on the ball, including with goals, between stalwarts Jan Paul van Hecke and Micky van de Ven. Team chemistry and stats in possession count for a lot, and they are going to be huge under Roberto De Zerbi.
Pedro Porro, though, is the real big get on Spurs after establishing himself as the world’s best right back at the World Cup for champions Spain. He and Adrian Truffert are going to be point scoring monsters this season with the scoring changes that favor fullbacks.
Midfielders
Morgan Rogers, Chelsea
Rayan Cherki, Manchester City
Rayan, Bournemouth
Anton Stach, Leeds
Mateus Fernandes, Tottenham
Adam Wharton, Crystal Palace
Carlos Baleba, Brighton
Florian Wirtz, Liverpool
Bounce back candidates are the way to go in FPL, and there are a couple of huge ones here. Carlos Baleba was the darling box to box midfielder of the Premier League, and you can expect him to be back with a vengeance. Same with new Liverpool signing Florian Wirtz, who will get much better coaching and more transition opportunities with Andoni Iraola leading the way- and he won’t have to deal with the albatross that was 2025/26 Mohamed Salah.
Anton Stach is the most underrated player in the Premier League and the heart of Leeds, and he will score good points on offense and defense. Same for Mateus Fernandes, who was a top player for West Ham last season but will be even better under a superior coach in Roberto De Zerbi.
Adam Wharton and Rayan are ready to take the next steps in their careers to superstardom, while Rayan Cherki and Morgan Rogers are young superstars of the Premier League. Don’t be surprised if Cherki goes absolutely off this year. He is the most technically skilled player in the Premier League.
Forwards
Benjamin Sesko, Manchester United
Chris Wood, Nottingham Forest
Erling Haaland, Manchester City
Hugo Ekitike, Liverpool
Everyone wants to own Erling Haaland and he is by far the most expensive player in FPL, but it is 100 percent worth it to sign other players at bargain prices and go for Haaland. He is consistent, he wins games, scores goals, and he is so much better than every other forward option in FPL.
But if you want value, Chris Wood is the way to go. He is the classic undervalued striker coming off a bizarre down year, and since he had been productive before, it is hard to write off his 2024/25 season as mere fluke.
Benjamin Sesko looks ready to take the next big step at Manchester United as the club build on the success of Michael Carrick in his first season. As for Hugo Ekitike, he was the lone bright spot for Liverpool, and with Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah set to be out the door, it’s all going to be built around Ekitike.
