Fabrizio Romano revealed the player Mikel Arteta wants more than anyone else

Arsenal signed Martin Zubimendi alongside Declan Rice and won the Premier League, but they are after more midfield help in the summer 2026 transfer window after Zubi fizzled out and got exposed a bit in the English top flight by the end of the season.

According to a report from Fabrizio Romano, after missing out on the midfielder they previously wanted in Sandro Tonali, who joined Tottenham Hotspur for 100 million pounds without so much of a fight from the Gunners, Arsenal have turnd their attention to his Newcastle United teammate Bruno Guimaraes.

Per Fab, Mikel Arteta is the driving force in the hunt for Bruno G. Fab says that he is a top midfield target for the Gunners and that the Arsenal manager is pushing hard for Bruno behind the scenes, even though Newcastle do not want to give up the player so easily.

The Brazilian international is one of the best defensive midfielders in the Premier League and has been coveted highly in the past by Arsenal, Manchester United, and Manchester City, though the others have seemingly cooled their interest.

Bruno is valued highly but does not have the same perceived upside as Sandro Tonali, so Arsenal could very well still get him for cheaper than the 100 million pounds Tottenham spent on the Italian international.
